App Reports and Analytics

Update: We now offer a live Analytics Dashboard within the CMS. While the details below are still relevant and available to you if needed, please review our Analytics Dashboard guide to learn more about what data you can access from within the CMS!

There are a variety of tools available to help you report on the use and impact of your event app.

Google Analytics, App Store Connect Analytics, and Google Play Analytics can all be accessed from the moment your app is launched and will provide you with real-time feedback on the use of your app. In addition, the CMS offers a variety of data points that you can review at any time. After the completion of your event, we will compile analytics for you to review as well.

Review the details about each of these below for more information.

Google Analytics

We add Google Analytics to all apps we develop. When you start working with us we will ask you for the Google email addresses of the individuals you would like to have access to the Google Analytics page. You can then use Google Analytics to get real-time updates on your app. Review our article on Google Analytics Basics to get started then let Client Support know if you have any questions.

FAQ

Question: What is the difference between "Total Active App Users" and the number of people that downloaded the app?

Answer: "Total Active App Users" counts anyone that has opened the app at least once. The number of "Total Active App Users" lists exactly how many people are actually using the app, versus how many have simply downloaded it. This information is more valuable.

Question: Why are the numbers of app downloads or updates not included in my post-event recap report?

Answer: You can access this data in the two app store developer accounts, but we typically don't report on it. Basic download numbers are not a meaningful representation of engagement. For example, a user can download or update an app, but if they have never launched it, then they did not interact with any of the content.
